Geo 101: Physical Geology

Earth is your home planet: this course is designed to introduce you to where you live and how it has evolved over the last 4.5 billion years. Some changes are announced in the latest sound bite on your local news; some processes only effect changes over millions of years. Throughout the semester, you will learn about topics in geology that are not only areas of active research but also affect us as members of local, national, and global communities.

Textbook Earth: An Introduction to Physical Geology, Tarbuck and Lutgens, seventh edition.

Included with your text is a CD-ROM containing material supplemental to the text. This material, although both helpful and entertaining is not required for the course.

Grade

The grade will be determined from in-class quizzes, 3 midterm exams, a final, and a team project. See the syllabus for details.
