Introduction

        This is a WebQuest about baseball!  This is here for you to learn about the history of baseball.  I don’t want you to just know about the white players.  I also want you to learn about the black players to.  So I have set up some questions that I would like you to answer.  This will allow me to see how you do at searching things up on the webs with questions that I may give you in the future.  So I know thank you for coming to this site and I encourage you to answer the questions.


Part I:  Baseball Statistics

1. What league hit the best during 1910?
2. Who hit two grand slams in 1946?
3. Who hit 70 home runs?

·         Baseball Archive, The - archive of baseball information, including stats from 1871-present, awards, records/feats, almanac, attendance, sabermetrics, and more

·         Graphical History of Baseball - includes batting, pitching, and fielding statistics from 1900 on

·         Baseball Almanac - provides statistical information about awards, records, and feats

Part II:  Historic Baseball Players

1. Who was the first baseball player to be elected into the baseball hall of fame in 1936 with the most votes?
2. Who did the great Jackie Robinson play for in 1954?
3. Which team is the best team of all time?

·         Best and Worst Baseball Teams of All Time - computer analysis developed by sports statistician Harry Hollingsworth.

Part III: The World Series

Part IV: Black Baseball: The Negro Leagues

1. What two black catchers should be in the hall of fame?
2. What big black baseball team played only in the eastern colored league?
3. What black baseball player is the devil from Texas?

·         Home Plate: Baseball in the 1930's - original research, writing, statistics, and book reviews about major league and minor league baseball during the 1930s.

·         Black Baseball's Negro Baseball Leagues - history of black baseball.

·         Negro Leagues Baseball Online Archives - features team and player pages, as well as articles from the pages of Black Ball News.
